NYEMTinfo.com
NYEMTinfo.com provides Emergency Medical Services education and training opportunities in 13 counties of northeastern New York. It is a convenient tool for course and training providers to post up-coming courses, as well as a convenient source of training schedules for anyone needing training, including the many pre-hospital and hospital care providers throughout the region.
Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics are usually the first members of the health care team to respond to an accident, fire, heart attack, drowning, or other medical emergencies. The responsibility of making life and death decisions, then taking action based on those decisions, is part of the everyday job. EMTs and paramedics work under physical and emotional stress, using special training to assess and care for the immediate medical needs of emergency patients and transport them safely to the hospital.
The Adirondack Rural Health Network (ARHN) recognized that it is difficult for rural areas to find and keep qualified EMTs. One problem was access to training programs. In cooperation with EMT trainers, the ARHN developed NYEMTinfo.com to ease the process of locating and scheduling training and coursework.
NYEMTinfo.com is designed and maintained to help pre-hospital and hospital care providers to:
- Learn how to become certified and stay certified as an EMT or a pre-hospital care provider in New York State,
- Identify New York State EMT requirements,
- Locate continuing medical education (CME) courses for health care providers in pre-hospital and hospital settings
- Find emergency medical service (EMS) training programs, and,
- Post courses and training schedules if they are a provider of continuing education.
The development and maintenance of the online recruitment and retention effort is a collaborative venture involving the following five agencies:
